This is a nice watch

I bought this watch 3 months ago, after looking at it online for about a month. I have to say, it is very nice. My main watch before this was a two tone Rolex Submariner, which I totally love, but I wanted to get something new.
The black and orange color theme on this watch is amazing ! I love the chronograph. The sail cloth band is interesting, and took a little while to get used to, but it is good. It is a very solid watch, and looks impressive on your wrist.
Ashford.com was a joy to deal with. I got the best price anywhere, and they gave me free FedEx overnight, so I had the watch sooner !
I would 100% recommend this watch. It's a steal !

Picture Doesn't Do It Justice

Couldn't be happier with my purchase of this Baume & Mercier Riviera. Believe it or not, the watch is even nicer than it looks in the picture. The unidirectional rotating bezel is a beautiful mat black finish and the orange accents on the face and stitching complement each other perfectly. Note that the picture makes the tachymeter numbers appear reddish, but are actually a slightly darker shade of orange than the roman numeral hour markings. Overall, a fabulous looking watch. I also love the band, which I have heard described as either "sailcloth" or kevlar. Either way, it is a unique strap material and really sets this watch apart. The high quality of this watch is readily apparent from the moment you put it on. It is a relatively heavy watch, but very comfortable on the wrist. The heft is more indicative of the quality of the watch rather than an annoyance.
I also have to commend Ashford.com on the entire ordering process. It could not have been easier and I was wearing the watch less than 2 days after I placed the order - free shipping no less. Also, the price on Ashford.com was at least $250 cheaper than anywhere else.
If there is one minor drawback to this watch it is that it doesn't have an exhibition back. I love to be able to see the movement in my automatic watches, especially with this being an automatic chronograph. That issue is minor compared to the positives of this watch.
To quote the great Ferris Bueller... "So choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up." It may not be a Ferrari, but it's a darn fine timepiece.

Great purchase

I had been looking at this watch for a while and finally decided to pull the trigger. Absolutely no regrets, and Ashford was excellent. The watch looks better than the pictures, feels like a solid watch and I hope Baume Mercier is a good brand as this is my first. But from the looks and feel, plus other reveiws, seems it was an excellent purchase. I recomend that if you like what you see, get it before they sell out as it is no longer manufactured. The Rolex Submariner is 40mm and this one is 43mm so not a small watch, or over sized.

Enthused all together. If anything of a shortcoming that would be -same as some of my predecessor reviewers said as well - kind of a difficult time readability, weak glow in the dark. Also if thinness is a consideration, then this watch is not for you.

As other reviewers have stated, this is a stunningly gorgeous watch, with outstanding quality craftsmanship and sweeping movement. It is an impressive man's watch that reeks of quality but is not over the top or one of those overpriced pie plates that look like you are wearing a desk clock. Nor does it look tacky with that too much bling tackiness. It is to me. a classic man's watch that should appreciate.
It is however, quite a metal hunk. You can definitely feel the weight and it is rather thick. The back case design also makes it sit up a bit on your wrist which is actually rather nice. You know its there because of the weight, but it doesn't pinch or restrain your wrist. The band and clasp are very nice and of a fine quality for "sailcloth". Everything about it is solid as a rock, the chrono pushers, the crown, and the bezel. When you move any, there is a tactile sensation of rock solid quality. The design of the hands is rather unique and I have had no problems with the illumination or reading the watch.
It is gorgeous enough to wear on any occasion but still appears to be sporty. I believe it is one of those unique timepieces that stands out as invincible quality precision, but is not trendy or pompous. The only caveat again, is the weight and thickness and will take getting used to, but in the end worthwhile for such a wonderfully built timepiece.

Firstly, I live in the UK so inevitably got clobbered by import duty. Nonetheless, it was still half the price of UK retailers so seemed a bargain. I'm fortunate enough to own a couple of other watches; Tag for everyday & Maurice Lacroix for dress, but fancied something in between.
I'm not sure if I've made the right choice....
This is simply because this is a stunning watch. It really is a beautiful timepiece, with a colour scheme normally only favoured by the likes of Oris. It has the classic B&M dodecagon shape to the bezel and chassis, nice accents of colour to the strap, dial and hands and a lovely contrast of matt bezel and polished chassis.

The strap is very comfortable. I was born with the hands of Shrek so hoped this would be large enough to wear - it is and I still have valuable strap space left.
The folding clasp works well, with a very secure fitment. There is a comforting weight to the watch too.
At 43mm (exc. crown) the watch is a good size but not over the top. It's not as bling as a Brietling and not as common as an Omega. B&M appear to have brought something different to the table; a rugged, attractive and stylish watch which truly does stand out.

The face itself is superb; a great mix of functionality and form, with the second hand having a lovely sweep motion.
I don’t really have criticisms, but my observations would be the poor illumination (non-essential and noted on various forums) and the size of the face. For a good sized watch I would have assumed a slightly bigger surface area, but it still just looks right.

All in, it’s a striking piece, I love it - you really do need one in your life.
